“49 Years; Embracing the Past” seeks to showcase art that acknowledges the struggle for equality by the Stonewall veterans and LGBTQ activists from the past and present, the fight for acceptance in the arts, government, sports, education, and entertainment, the AIDS epidemic, Marriage Equality, Gays in the military, and leaders and personalities such as Larry Kramer/Act Up, Harvey Milk, Audrey Lorde, Sylvia Rivera, and Virginia Woolf, and the diversity of views and voices found in the LGBTQ community.
“49 Years; Embracing the Past” is a companion exhibition with “49 Years; Focusing on the Future,” on display at the Hudson County Courthouse.
This show is an Official Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival Event.
