Bryant Small - BFLY777
Bryant Small is a distinguished artist, curator, and educator based in Jersey City, New Jersey. He currently serves as the Associate Curator at the Morris Museum in Morristown, NJ, a Smithsonian Affiliate institution, where he brings an innovative and inclusive approach to exhibition design. In late 2024, he curated the museum’s acclaimed exhibition New Sculpture/New Jersey, which showcased the work of 11 contemporary sculptors and featured multimedia elements to engage audiences in new ways.
As an artist, Small is celebrated for his vibrant and fluid alcohol ink paintings on Yupo paper. His work has been recognized internationally, earning him a place on Art Market Magazine’s Gold List of Top Emerging Contemporary Artists and multiple Conception Arts Awards for Excellence. His paintings have been exhibited internationally and are held in private collections worldwide.
In addition to his curatorial and artistic endeavors, Small is deeply committed to arts education and advocacy. He’s served as an adjunct professor at Saint Elizabeth University and has held leadership roles in various arts organizations, including Co-President of Pro Arts Jersey City and Executive Director of the Jersey City Arts Council. He is also the Co-Founder and Artist in Residence of Kaleidoscope.Art, a collaborative platform that fosters creative partnerships through generative design. Bryant Small’s multifaceted career reflects his passion for culture, color, and community, making him a dynamic force in the contemporary art landscape.
